Melodic Minor Scales for Piano

Melodic minor scales for the piano

The melodic minor scale is a little different from natural and harmonic minor scales in that the notes played when ascending the scale are very slightly different from the notes played when descending the scale.  It is worth noting here that the descending form of the melodic minor scale is exactly the same as the descending notes of the natural minor scale in that it follows the notes shown in the key signature.  In other words, to create a melodic form from the natural minor scale, raise the 6th and 7th notes while ascending and lower them back down again while descending.
